Rangers are poised to complete a transfer that has been described as a “major coup” for the Glasgow outfit as Hamza Igamane’s future remains uncertain.

The new Rangers boss has so far been unable to make major strides in the transfer market since arriving at Ibrox, although the recent addition of Max Aarons on loan from Bournemouth is a promising sign.

Now Rangers are poised to sign Zebedee Lawson from Brighton, according to transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke.

It is unclear what type of role he might play at Ibrox next season, with a loan move seeming probable as the ‘B’ team model was dropped by the Gers.

Hamza Igamane transfer latest

Rangers’ hopes of landing a huge transfer fee for Hamza Igamane appear to hang in the balance, with conflicting stories over the future of the Moroccan forward.

While the Daily Record claims that Lille have got cold feet over the deal as they are unwilling to match Rangers’ €17.5m demands, TeamTalk suggests the deal is still live, with the Ligue 1 club willing to negotiate after having a first bid turned down.

Lille have secured the signing of Olivier Giroud from LAFC, suggesting their need to sign Igamane has diminished. Marseille, Rennes and Lens all continue to be linked with the forward, however.

Romano announces three contracts signed

In this early stage of the summer transfer window, there is a clear emphasis on getting the structure for youth players correct, and to that end, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that three academy stars will be handed new two-year deals at Ibrox.

“Rangers are set to retain three young talents within the academy under new ownership and structure to develop academy players,” Fabrizio Romano tweeted.

“Understand Calum Adamson, Jack Wyllie and Max Cameron have all agreed two-year contracts at the club.”

All three players have yet to feature in Rangers’ first team but will hope these new contracts provide the pathway to turning out at Ibrox at some stage in the future.
