The opening dilemma for Team India was being discussed by Srikkanth, Mohammad Kaif, Ajay Jadeja, and Ravi Shastri before the second T20I match against the West Indies.
West Indies defeated Team India in the second T20I of the series by a narrow margin of five wickets in Basseterre.
The team was dismissed for 138 runs in 19.4 overs, and although the bowlers put up a valiant effort to force extra time, Devon Thomas’ (31* off 18 deliveries) heroics were ultimately not enough to prevent the Windies from winning. The third T20I, slated for the same location, has been delayed by 1.5 hours as a result of the match’s overall three-hour delay caused by luggage complications.
Fans and former cricket players criticize the Indian management’s decision to start Suryakumar Yadav after the first game of the series. The 31-year-old had a century while batting at number five in the T20I series against England last month, but the management chose to experiment with the opening position once more in the second T20I despite the presence of Ishan Kishan and Rishabh Pant (who had opened against England).
‘Vo tumhara firki le raha hai yaar’: Ravi Shastri
Krishnamachari Srikkanth, a former cricketer for India, was incensed by the choice and pleaded with Rohit Sharma and company not to “destroy” Suryakumar’s potential by sending him to open.
Srikkanth also used the scenario of Ravichandran Ashwin opening for the 2022 Indian Premier League to argue that there can be many different players who might be attempted in the role during the argument with fellow former cricketers Ajay Jadeja and Mohammad Kaif.

Kaif made a funny observation that Srikkanth wanted Ashwin to open when Ravi Shastri joined the discussion. Ravi Shastri swiftly responded, “I said, no opening with Suryakumar Yadav,” as he scoffed at the notion. I meant to say that!
Ravi Shastri responded with the funny line, “Vo tumhara firki le raha hai yaar,” making both Kaif and Jadeja chuckle.
With the third T20I scheduled for August 2, the five-match series is now tied at one match each. Florida in the United States is where the final two ODIs will be played.
