Real Madrid’s move for Ajax wonderkid Abdellah Ouazane has collapsed in mysterious circumstances, with the teenager reported to have failed a medical with the Bernabeu giants.
The 16-year-old had been expected to join Real Madrid on a three-year deal, which is the maximum contract of a player at his age, to join the U19 side.
Los Blancos had beaten off competition from Barcelona and PSG for the player, who also knocked back three offers from Ajax to sign a renewal. He was destined to move as a free agent to sign his first professional deal and play for the U19s with the aim of being promoted into the reserves.

The Spanish sources reports that the deal broke down at a stage that is generally considered to be a formality.
“All parties want to maintain privacy around exactly what went wrong and what caused him to fail the test,” it says. “Respect is demanded and insisted upon.
“Ouazane failed the test and hasn’t signed. The contract is already ruptured and he will not play for Real Madrid.”
He remains a free agent, with the emotional blow said to be “massive” as he had been dreaming of playing for Real Madrid.
Accompanying him to the Spanish capital was supposed to be his brother, Zakaria. The 18-year-old had been earmarked to play for Real Madrid C, but this deal has also collapsed following his brother’s failed medical.
Return to Ajax?
What the future holds for Ouazane is unclear at this point after he rejected three offers from Ajax.
The Eredivisie club had been eager to retain him before the deal with Real Madrid was brokered.
“You have to be realistic and aware of your place in the football pyramid; when a big club comes for a talent… it’s difficult to keep them,” said Alex Kroes, Ajax’s technical director.
It is also known that Ajax head coach John Heitinga appreciates the teenager, and therefore going back to Amsterdam is reported to be the most likely option for Ouazane after this major setback.
