Real Madrid have officially completed the signing of Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The 26-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu in recent years and he has now formally joined the Spanish giants on a six-year contract until 2031.
The England star will officially join Real Madrid on 1 June, during the pre-Club World Cup transfer window, and he could make his debut for the Spanish giants in their opening match of the tournament versus Al-Hilal on 18 June.
Alexander-Arnold confirmed his Liverpool departure with a farewell message in early May and the Reds are set to sign Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong as his replacement.
Real Madrid complete Trent Alexander-Arnold signing
The 26-year-old has departed Anfield having made 354 appearances for his boyhood club, following his senior debut way back in 2016.
Alexander-Arnold was a key member of the team that won the Champions League, the Club World Cup and the Premier League between 2019 and 2020, under Jurgen Klopp, while he was an integral figure during Arne Slot’s first season at Anfield.
However, he has opted to leave the Reds this summer despite previously admitting that becoming club captain at Liverpool was a career “ambition.”

Alexander-Arnold has become the sixth Englishman to join Real Madrid in their illustrious history and he will link up with international team-mate, and close friend, Jude Bellingham in the Spanish capital.
The 26-year-old is expected to challenge Dani Carvajal for a starting berth at the Santiago Bernabeu next season, although he is likely to immediately become Xabi Alonso’s preferred right-back.
