One Liverpool fan teased Chelsea’s players by asking them what they were celebrating on X
But rival fans were quick to hit out at the west London side, accusing them of being ‘tinpot’ and ‘celebrating like they won the league’.
One Liverpool fan said: ‘We’re celebrating titles they’re celebrating 3 points.’
An X user wrote: ‘This is so tinpot.’ Another questioned ‘what are they celebrating?’
A further Liverpool fan added: ‘Celebrating like they won the league, do they not realise we have nothing to play for’
One said: ‘Is there a parade to follow?’
‘How embarrassing, celebrating as if you’ve won something – you’re 5th’, another one mocked.
Chelsea’s win came after their fans loudly booed the guard of honour they performed for Liverpool.
The home players lined up and applauded the title winners as they made their way onto the turf, with captain Virgil Van Dijk leading out the newly crowned champions.
Former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch criticised the tradition pre-match, saying he doesn’t know why guards of honour are given and that it’s ’embarrassing’.

Chelsea star Palmer has fired back at ‘idiots’ on social media after ending his goal drought
‘I don’t like it. Maybe it shows respect but I just don’t get it. It’s embarrassing for the team that comes out and it’s entirely embarrassing for the team that claps them on the field. It’s not for me’, Crouch said on TNT Sports.
Meanwhile, Cole Palmer blasted social media as ‘full of idiots’ after he finally broke his goal drought.
Palmer had faced criticism from online trolls for going 18 games without scoring but he buried a stoppage-time penalty to confirm victory at Stamford Bridge.
That first strike since January 14 came after he had been involved in both of Chelsea’s other goals with them currently sitting fifth.
Sky Sports were forced to apologise after he swore during an interview with them, saying: ‘S*** happens. I went three months without scoring but it gives me more motivation and fight to do well.
‘Not just for myself, but for the team. Social media these days is just full of idiots, basically. The trolls and that. I don’t pay any attention to that. To score, I’m happy, but it’s only one and I’ve got to keep improving and try to reach new levels.
‘If you’re getting chances and you’re not scoring, you’re letting your team down at the end of the day. Personally, I feel like I’m mentally strong. Whatever people say doesn’t bother me, I’ve had it all my life growing up so I don’t really care.
