RONALD KOEMAN revealed Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong wants to stay at the Nou Camp amid links with Manchester United and Chelsea.
De Jong is United boss Erik ten Hag’s top target in the summer transfer window as he looks to boost his midfield after Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic’s departure.
The Red Devils reportedly struck a £56million deal in principal to sign the midfielder a week ago but a potential deal has hit a snag over £24m that he is is owed by Barca.
The Manchester giants are said to be reluctant to foot the extra bill, with the Blues ready to take advantage and pounce for the Netherlands international.
However, former Barcelona manager Koeman has spoken with the 25-year-old and confirmed he wants to stay.
The ex-Southampton and Everton boss has “a lot of contact” with De Jong as well as other fellow Dutchmen playing with the Blaugrana, such as Memphis Depay, and insists he has no intention to go.
Koeman said during a press conference ahead of the ‘Koeman Cup’ golf tournament: “With Frenkie, with Memphis, I have a lot of contact.
“I know Frenkie’s situation and he said it himself the other day, he wants to stay.
“So his intention is to continue at Barca and nothing else. It’s the only thing I know.
“Memphis came last year, for free from Lyon. He has proven to be a great player. I think he is a player for Barca, that’s why we signed him.

“It depends on Xavi’s opinion if he he wants it or not, but for me it is indisputable, it is for Barca”.
De Jong joined Barcelona in 2019 following an impressive three-year stint at Ajax under Ten Hag and has since amassed a total of 13 goals and 17 assists in 138 appearances.
