Shakira has given her first interview since her split from long-term partner Gerard Pique, and the Colombian singer has not held back in her thinly veiled barb at Spanish journalist Clara Chia.
The singer, who is currently promoting her new album, El Dorado, was asked about her split from Pique during an interview with Spanish radio station Cadena Ser.
Shakira was quick to point out that she was not going to discuss her personal life, but she did take the opportunity to take a swipe at Chia, who had previously suggested that the singer was to blame for the break-up.
āI donāt want to talk about my personal life, but I will say this: I think there is a special place in hell for people who try to hurt other people,ā Shakira said.
The singer went on to explain that she was not going to let anyone else dictate her life, and that she was determined to move on with her career.
āIām not going to let anyone else decide how I should live my life,ā she said. āIām going to keep doing what Iāve always done, which is to keep working and to keep making music.ā
Shakira also spoke about her new album, which she said was inspired by her recent experiences.
āI think this album is a reflection of the last few years of my life,ā she said. āItās a reflection of the changes Iāve gone through, the emotions Iāve felt, and the lessons Iāve learned.ā
The singer also spoke about her upcoming tour, which she said would be a celebration of her music and her fans.
āIām really looking forward to the tour,ā she said. āItās going to be a celebration of my music and my fans. Iām really excited to be able to share my music with them.ā
