Supercomputer predicts final Premier League table with Man Utd missing out on top four after failing to spend in January

MANCHESTER UNITED will miss out on a place in the top four this season, a supercomputer has predicted.

And to make matters worse, their bitter rivals Man City are heavily backed to retain their Premier League title.

The battle for the top four is set to take centre stage in the second half of this season, with the title race looking all but done.

City’s nine-point lead has got neutral observers looking elsewhere for excitement.

SBK’s supercomputer backed the Red Devils to book a Champions League spot back in December.

But their lack of January signings has seen them fall behind in the race.

Football boffins have backed them to be pipped into fourth by Tottenham, who they reckon will join City, Liverpool and Chelsea in next season’s Champions League.

Antonio Conte’s side brought in Juventus pair Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur on Deadline Day.

The algorithm does back United to come fifth, however, ahead of Arsenal in sixth and then West Ham.

Wolves, Leicester, Brighton, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace, in that order, are expected to remain in respectable mid-table positions.

Everton are backed to climb to 14th under the stewardship of Frank Lampard.

In addition to their managerial change, the Toffees brought in Dele Alli, Donny van de Beek, Nathan Patterson and Vitaliy Mykolenko in January.

Leeds and Brentford are next up in 15th and 16th respectively.

Moneybags Newcastle are backed to beat the drop – but only just.

This leaves Burnley, Watford and Norwich in the relegation zone.

The Canaries are in last place on this supercomputer’s table – despite them currently being outside the relegation zone.
