The Citizen Times and Times-News have announced its All-WNC girls tennis team for the 2023 season.

A number of players from Henderson County lead the way after Hendersonville secured its fifth straight team title, while players from Roberson and Franklin also are honored.

Here is the complete list of players, as well as our choice for coach of the year.

WNC Girls Tennis Player of the Year

Eliza Perry, Hendersonville, Sr.

Perry went 17-1 in singles and 14-0 in doubles with her partner Ramsey Ross. She and Ross won the NCHSAA 2A doubles title for the fourth year in a row. Perry was a critical ingredient who helped the Bearcats win their fifth straight state championship.

Coach of the Year

Michael Jones, Hendersonville

Jones led Hendersonville to its fifth straight state championship and his second state title overall. The Bearcats went 18-0 this season.

All-WNC First Team

Ramsey Ross, Hendersonville, Sr.

Ross racked up a 17-1 record in singles playing as Hendersonville’s No. 2. She also went 13-0 in doubles with Perry on the way to winning a doubles title.

Raleigh Prichard, Hendersonville, Jr.

Prichard was the Bearcats’ No. 3 singles player. She went 16-2 in singles and 12-1 with her doubles partner Reese Redden. She and Redden were NCHSAA 2A doubles semifinalists.

Erika Mendez, Roberson, Sr.

Mendez went 17-1 in singles and 14-3 in doubles with her partner Alex Dy. She helped lead the Rams to a Mountain Athletic Conference championship and an appearance in the third round of the NCHSAA 4A playoffs.

Rainie Richards, Roberson, Sr.

Richards finished with a 15-3 mark in singles and a 7-2 record in doubles.

Abigail Angel, Franklin, Jr.

Angel finished 7-2 in singles and 13-4 in doubles with her partner Kate Phillips. She helped lead Franklin to the NCHSAA 3A west regional finals.

Reese Redden, Hendersonville, Jr.

Alex Dy, Roberson, Fr.

Sophie Renfro, Asheville Christian Academy, Sr.

Kate Phillips, Franklin, Jr.

Sarah Vitale, Polk County, Jr.

Evelyn Merrell, North Buncombe, So.
