Amid brutal temperatures at the US Open in New York, some of tennis’ biggest names struggled to get through their matches on Wednesday afternoon.
Bright sunshine and 92-degree heat led to several heat breaks – but Tomas Martin Etcheverry may have felt it in a more brutal way than most.
Midway through his second-round match against Argentine countryman Francisco Cerundolo, the world No 33 was caught on camera VOMITING on the court.
The match was already deep into its fifth set and approaching a fourth hour, when Etcheverry approached the line and prepared to return serve.
Quickly, though, he realized he wasn’t feeling too good and went to raise his hand to apologize to his opponent and move back.

Etcheverry somehow managed to regain his composure to win the match in five sets
Instantly, though, he could not stop himself from vomiting on the court, desperately trying to raise his hand to stop the flow.
Incredibly, Etcheverry was able to rally himself and went on to win the fifth set 6-3, booking himself a tie against Alexander Zverev in the third round.
Across the courts at Flushing Meadows, players did all they could to cope with the brutal temperatures, using ice packs, ice towels and even cold air tubes.
Heat breaks of 10 minutes at a time were given to allow players – and ball boys and girls – to cool off.
