Tennis star’s girlfriend calls rival ‘cute’ before US Open final

Taylor Fritz’s girlfriend Morgan Riddle is not shy about creating beef on the tennis circuit… just ask Alexander Zverev.

But when it comes to her man’s US Open final opponent this weekend, it appears she’s actually a big fan.

In footage from Netflix’s Break Point documentary, a clip has resurfaced in which Riddle refers to world No. 1 Jannik Sinner as ‘cute’, much to the chagrin of her boyfriend.

‘How is Sinner playing right now?’ Riddle asks in the clip, before Fritz replies: ‘I mean, he’s been playing good all year.’

In response, Riddle says: ‘He’s, like, fun to watch… he’s so cute. He is!’

After a long pause, Fritz can only shrug and reply: ‘OK’.

Throughout the US Open tournament, Riddle has been courtside to watch her man, but on Sunday afternoon, she may also have one eye on the opposite end of the court.

Fritz has been hugely impressive in New York, reaching his first ever Grand Slam final, beating two higher-rank seeds along the way.

In the round of 16, he downed No 8 Casper Ruud, before dispatching of the aforementioned Zverev – seeded No 4 – in the quarter-final.

In Friday night’s semifinal, he overcame countryman Frances Tiafoe in a five-set thriller on Arthur Ashe, setting up a Sunday showdown with Sinner.

So far, the Italian has been in imperious form, only dropping two sets throughout the duration of the tournament.
