HOLLAND – The Zeeland West boys tennis team claimed the OK Green Conference championship for the second year in a row.
The Dux have won three titles in the past four seasons and join West Ottawa as local conference champions.
Zeeland West totaled 50 points to win Friday’s conference tournament and, combined with the regular-season results, claimed the outright title.
Mona Shores was second (52), followed by Holland (40), Zeeland East (37), Reeths-Puffer (30), Union (9) and Wyoming (5).
“Our seniors had to reset after we lost nine players from our first conference title,” Zeeland West coach Lance McKinney said. “This is our third conference championship in four years and we now head to a very tough regional with hojpes of earning our way to state for the second year in a row.”
The Dux totaled four flight championships on their way to the team title.
At No. 3 singles, Zeeland West’s James Stewart avenged an earlier three-set loss to Zeeland East’s Charlie Reese, winning the title with another close match, 6-5(5), 7-5.

Zeeland West earned the win at No. 1 doubles with Luke Kaynor and Quinn Willette beating Reeths-Puffer 7-5, 6-3 in the finals.
At No. 3 doubles, Zeeland West’s Mikey Fuller and Dom Szczerkowski beat Holland’s Harper Prutch and Owen Baer 6-3, 6-0 in the finals.
At No. 4 doubles, Zeeland West’s Bryce VanWort and Jacob Eckert defeated Holland’s Willem Evenson and Will Lubbers 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 in the finals.
At No. 2 singles, Zeeland West’s Landon Mosbauer reached the finals. Xander Engelsman reached the final at No. 4 singles, falling to Mona Shores in three sets, after beating Reeths-Puffer in three sets.
Holland got a flight win at No. 2 doubles with Oliver Miller and Emmett Book beating Zeeland West’s Max Settlemyre and David Hernandez-Delgado 6-1, 1-6, 6-4.
Zeeland East’s Brady Schanski reached the finals at No. 1 singles after beating Holland’s Aiden Sin in three sets.
