The Tottenham Hotspur faithful have made their feelings known in no uncertain terms after their team’s Champions League exit at the hands of RB Leipzig.
The German side ran out 3-0 winners on the night, and 4-0 on aggregate, to send Spurs crashing out of the competition at the last-16 stage.
The result was met with a chorus of boos from the Tottenham fans in attendance, but it was the chant of “Mauricio Pochettino” that really caught the attention.
The chant was a clear indication of the fans’ dissatisfaction with current manager Antonio Conte, who was appointed in November 2019 following the sacking of Pochettino.
The Argentine had been in charge of Spurs for five-and-a-half years, leading them to the Champions League final in 2019 and establishing them as a top-four side in the Premier League.
Conte, on the other hand, has failed to replicate Pochettino’s success, with Spurs currently languishing in eighth place in the league and out of the Champions League.
The Italian has come under increasing pressure in recent weeks, with the fans’ chant of “Mauricio Pochettino” a clear indication of their dissatisfaction with his tenure.
It remains to be seen whether Conte will be given the chance to turn things around at Spurs, but it is clear that the fans are not happy with his reign and are longing for the return of Pochettino.
The Argentine is currently in charge of Paris Saint-Germain, but it is clear that the Tottenham fans still hold him in high regard and would welcome him back with open arms.
Only time will tell if Pochettino will make a return to Spurs, but for now, the fans have made their feelings known and it is clear that they are not happy with Conte’s reign.
