The big spenders will be out in force again this summer, with Real Madrid looking to back new boss Xabi Alonso, Chelsea keen to improve again after securing Champions League qualification, and Manchester United desperate to reclaim some kind of success after a disastrous season that saw them finish just three places above the relegation zone in the Premier League.
The Red Devils have signed Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, with Man City also flexing their financial power to sign Tijani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Marcus Bettinelli and Rayan Cherki.
Chelsea have signed Liam Delap, Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens, notably.
The biggest deal so far this summer saw Florian Wirtz complete a blockbuster transfer to Liverpool from Leverkusen.
Some questions that will hang over the transfer window this season:
- Will Viktor Gyokeres leave Sporting CP?
- Who will sign Victor Osimhen?
- How much can Barcelona spend?
- Will top players want to join Man Utd?
- Will Arsenal sign a world-class striker?

Man Utd tried to sign Inter’s Esposito
Man Utd approached Inter in January over a potential deal for Francesco Pio Espositio.
Seven months ago, United were desperate for attacking reinforcements and spoke to Inter over the player, who was on loan at Spezia in Serie B. However, the Nerazzurri quickly rejected the enquiry as they view Esposito as a star of the future.
More recently, Atalanta expressed interest during the negotiations over Ademola Lookman, but were again rebuffed. (Football Italia)

Gyokeres receives praise from Arsenal star
Gabriel Magalhaes has heaped praise on Viktor Gyokeres ahead of his proposed summer move to Arsenal.
The Sporting CP striker is on the cusp of a transfer to the Emirates just as soon as Arsenal and the Portuguese side can iron out a few payment details.
“We all know he is a great player, but he is a Sporting player not an Arsenal player,” Gabriel admitted to BBC Sport.
“Playing against him last year was a challenge. He is great and had a great season.”
Isak’s agent suggests big news is coming
Alexander Isak‘s agent has suggested that big news surrounding his client is coming soon.
The Newcastle striker has been strongly linked with Liverpool over the past couple of weeks but so far the Reds have not met Newcastle’s £150 million valuation.
Whether it’s a transfer or a new contract with Newcastle, Gonzalo Gaitan says an update on the situation is coming, telling Saudi Arabian newspaper Arriyadiyah:
“We are indeed studying and analysing all options, and we may be close to finalising the next step for the player. Without revealing any details regarding whether Isak will transfer or stay with Newcastle.”

Major Saudi competition for Isak
Al-Hilal are desperate to add a top-class centre-forward to their ranks this summer and have turned their attention to Alexander Isak.
Earlier this week, Liverpool submitted an official offer to Newcastle worth around £100 million for Isak which was swiftly rejected.
The Magpies want at least £150m for their player, which would certainly be feasible for the Saudi side. (CaughtOffside)

World-Record bid incoming
Milan to save Hojlund from United nightmare?
Milan are interested in signing Rasmus Hojlund from Man Utd.
The Denmark striker has underwhelmed at Old Trafford since his big money move from Atalanta two years ago but Milan are looking for a new striker and could look to tempt him back to Serie A.
However, Fabrizio Romano previously reported that Hojlund wants to stay at United:
“Rasmus Højlund doesn’t want to leave Manchester United this summer, his desire is to stay. The only possibility for sale is in case United decide to advance in talks and proceed with his exit. Inter, keen for weeks but deal now in stand-by.”
