Trent Alexander-Arnold’s summer move from Liverpool to Real Madrid has officially been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano after months of speculation.

The 26-year-old has announced his decision to leave Anfield despite their recent Premier League title win, and Romano, among others, has revealed that a Bosman switch to Los Blancos will take place.

The transfer expert posted on X: “BREAKING: Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid, here we go!

“Decision to leave Liverpool now confirmed as Trent says goodbye to the club after winning one more PL title.

“Documents being prepared for Trent to join Real Madrid on a 5 year contract, verbal agreement done.”

The Athletic’s David Ornstein has also confirmed that Alexander-Arnold is set to join Real Madrid as a free agent, although he believes the Liverpool star will sign a six-year deal with Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

The England international is expected to compete with Dani Carvajal for a starting berth at right-back in the Spanish capital and he will link up with international team-mate, and close friend, Jude Bellingham at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Trent Alexander-Arnold confirms Liverpool exit

Alexander-Arnold announced his decision to leave Liverpool in an emotional goodbye video posted on social media and his last appearance for the club is likely to come at Anfield against Crystal Palace in the Reds’ final Premier League game of the season.

It remains to be seen if Liverpool will allow the Englishman to join Real Madrid before the Club World Cup begins on 14 June or if he will be forced to wait until 1 July to formally complete his move to the Spanish giants.

Alexander-Arnold has won nine trophies during an illustrious spell at Liverpool, having joined the club’s academy at the age of six, and he will leave with over 350 first-team appearances under his belt.
