Tyson Fury vs Usyk ‘Unlikely’ Says Promoter, Brit Opponent Next

The highly anticipated heavyweight showdown between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk is looking increasingly unlikely to happen, according to the Ukrainian’s promoter.

Usyk, the former undisputed cruiserweight champion, has been linked with a move up to the heavyweight division for some time, and a potential fight with Fury has been mooted as a potential blockbuster.

However, Usyk’s promoter Alexander Krassyuk has now admitted that the fight is ‘unlikely’ to happen, with another Brit lined up to fight the Ukrainian instead.

Krassyuk told Sky Sports: “We are in talks with a British fighter, not Tyson Fury, for Usyk’s next fight. It is unlikely that Usyk will fight Fury.”

The news will come as a blow to boxing fans, who had been hoping to see the two heavyweights go toe-to-toe in the ring.

Fury is currently the WBC heavyweight champion, having beaten Deontay Wilder in their rematch earlier this year. He is now expected to face Wilder for a third time, with the fight likely to take place in December.

Usyk, meanwhile, has been out of action since October 2018, when he beat Tony Bellew to become the undisputed cruiserweight champion. He has since been linked with a move up to the heavyweight division, and a potential fight with Fury had been seen as a potential blockbuster.

However, it now appears that Usyk will face another Brit instead, with Krassyuk revealing that talks are ongoing with an unnamed fighter.

The news will come as a disappointment to boxing fans, who had been hoping to see Fury and Usyk go head-to-head in the ring. However, it appears that the fight is now unlikely to happen, with Usyk set to face another Brit instead.
