The amount of winning streaks gsp put an end to is insane shields was on a 16 fight win streak before this i think,no welterweight has gsp's kind of resume.

GSP was selling out stadiums before it was cool, all on his name. UFC benefitted off him, whereas nowadays fighters benefit off the UFC brand.

This was Shields who had beaten Condit, later beat Maia, subbed Lawler, dominated Hendo at middleweight, and GSP shut him out with ease. GSP is still in that revolving door of top 3 GOAT's with DJ and Jones.
