No offence to Volkanovski but it’s hard to listen to a guy who’s just lost a fight to criticize the skill of the guy who win it. I’m not saying he’s wrong about what he’s saying, but IMO there’s a time for that kind of talk and that time is not in a post fight interview. It shows a real lack of humility, which, is a thing that prevents any athlete from being the best they can. Instead of thinking about what could have been done differently, become more humble first.
“…why do you think I was a massive underdog…” he says in reference to the fact that he was outsized. These are not things that become a great athlete.

We need a rematch. I think Volk gets it done the second time around.
Anyone calling a robbery should turn their fan card in because you are not able to score a fight without bias or emotion. I am a fan of both and Islam won 3-2. HOWEVER if that last round was a 10-8 for Volk I would have been good with it. He dominated the last round and put him down. I wish we had more draws because this should have been a draw and then we get this #1 vs #2 at MSG for the 30th Anniversary.

I know PFP is political and subjective, but considering Volk is the smaller guy, was a hair's breadth away from winning by any measure, and ended in the dominant position that would have lead to winning an out-and-out fight, I don't see a good justification for taking PFP away from him. Islam came out clearly more damaged and less capable looking than Volk.

i didnt agree with the 49-46, but it was close enough for me to say it was contestable. i think volk won the first round, my opinion the body triangle where volk was smashing over the soulder should have been closer. he was more aggressive in the position he was was in. and i think that was the round that kept it from a draw honestly. so damn close. when islam dropped in the last round i sat there screaming GET UP VOLK, YOU NEED TO END IT. and he almost did. 2 warriors. much respect

If he had taken an IV the bruising would still be there post fight. NO ONE heals that quickly from bruising. NO ONE!!

Great fight, amazing that he won, without recovering from weight cut fully(24h, instead of 36h), flying 13 000 km in a completely different climate, getting booed out…strong minded. Volk was a hard nut to crack, that's for sure!
