The proper summer transfer window kicked off for English clubs on 16 June, while the rest of Europe’s major leagues still need to wait until 1 July.
However, that is not stopping heavyweights from all over the continent from agreeing deals to bolster their squad ahead of the new season. The first mini-window already saw a flurry of action, and the second one is likely to be no different.
Below FootballTransfers runs through five of the biggest transfers that could be completed this week…
Florian Wirtz – Bayer Leverkusen to Liverpool

After a few weeks of haggling, Bayer Leverkusen and Liverpool reached an agreement, and Wirtz is set to fly out to Merseyside this week to complete his medical on Friday.
The entire operation is expected to cost Liverpool up to €240 million, making it one of the most expensive transfers in the history of football.
Milos Kerkez – Bournemouth to Liverpool

Liverpool aren’t done there as they are also planning to sign Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth, with the deal expected to cost around €50m. It is thought that talks with the Cherries are at the final stages.
Kerkez hasn’t engaged with any other suitors as he has had his heart set on joining the Reds for some time, and this deal could also be completed before the week is out.
The Hungarian’s arrival will likely lead to a left-back departure at Anfield, with Andrew Robertson having surprisingly become a top target for Atletico Madrid.
Benjamin Sesko – RB Leipzig to Arsenal

Arsenal are taking their time in solving the most pressing priority of the summer. The Gunners have been in talk with Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres for weeks, but they have yet to make a final decision on which striker to sign.
Although Gyokeres is desperate to join the North London club, talks with Sesko are more advanced, and FootballTransfers recently revealed that a breakthrough had been reached.
The Slovenia international is expected to cost between €80m and €100m. Sesko is keen on the move after turning Arsenal down last summer.
Sverre Nypan – Rosenborg to Man City

Man City have surprisingly won the race to sign Norwegian wonderkid Sverre Nypan, who was previously close to joining Aston Villa. However, the Birmingham club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League doomed the deal.
Man City swooped in and agreed a deal with Rosenborg in the region of €12m, which is a record for the Norwegian top flight. Nypan has also agreed to make the move to the Etihad.
That said, he likely won’t be playing in Manchester next term as he is expected to head out on loan initially, potentially to sister club Girona, who already wanted him in January.
Nico Williams – Athletic Club to Barcelona

The saga surrounding Nico Williams has been full of twists of turns, but it could soon be coming to an end as the 22-year-old has made it clear to his suitors that he wants to join Barcelona.
The Blaugrana are currently in the process of studying the feasibility of a transfer, but should they manage to get the financial green light, this deal is expected to accelerate rapidly.
Williams will command a whopping €12m salary as well as a €60m transfer fee, although Barcelona may yet attempt to hold talks with Athletic Club to drive the price down or secure different payment terms.
