Andre Gomes’ free-kick in the first half at last broke the deadlock after over two hours of action between Everton and Crystal Palace in this FA Cup third round tie, with the hosts eventually running out 1-0 winners.

The Portuguese midfielder provided one of the only real moments of quality in the game, but it was enough to see the Toffees set up a fourth round clash with fellow Premier League side Luton Town.

The two sides had played out a dull and drab first clash which ended 0-0, teeing up the return leg at Goodison Park.
