Gareth Southgate’s England squad have stepped up their preparations for Euro 2024 as they get ready for Monday’s friendly against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Southgate’s players including Harry Kane, Jack Grealish and Declan Rice were in good spirits as they trained at Rockliffe Park prior to Monday’s game, which will take place at St James’ Park.

26 members of England’s provisional Euro 2024 squad took part in the session, with Jude Bellingham given time off after winning the Champions League with Real Madrid.

Kobbie Mainoo, Kyle Walker and Phil Foden also haven’t yet linked up with the squad following their involvement in the FA Cup final.

Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Anthony Gordon are all continuing to work on individual programmes.

After taking on Bosnia and Herzegovina, England will host Iceland at Wembley on Friday in their final warm-up game, with Southgate’s 26-man squad for Euro 2024 to be announced the following day.

England are in Group C at the tournament in Germany and will take on Serbia, Denmark and Slovenia.

Newcastle winger Gordon is likely to miss Monday’s friendly because of an ankle injury.

With some key players missing, the game against Bosnia and Herzegovina could be an opportunity for some individuals to stake their claim for inclusion in the final squad.

There are five uncapped players in the England squad – James Trafford, Jarrad Branthwaite, Jarell Quansah, Curtis Jones and Adam Wharton – so it is possible that there could be some debutants on Monday.

Having lost on penalties to Italy in the final of Euro 2020, Southgate will be determined for his side to go all the way on this occasion and win the tournament for the first time.
