Colombia Qualifies for Copa America Round of 16 with Win Over Costa Rica

Colombia made light work of Costa Rica in its second Copa America group game by extending its unbeaten streak to 25 games, qualifying for the tournament’s round of 16 in the process.

Liverpool’s Luis Diaz opened the scoring from the penalty spot (31′) to gift Colombia the early lead on Friday, before former Spurs defender Davinson Sanchez scored off a corner with a towering header (59′).

Striker Jhon Cordoba sealed the win for the Colombians with a neat finish from close range after being put through on goal in the 62′. 

Argentine head coach Nestor Lorenzo has yet to taste defeat as Colombia’s head coach since taking over in July 2022.
