Alvin Kamara is expected to miss some time this season.

That’s according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, who was breaking down the various scenarios of exactly how long Kamara might be suspended for an assault that occurred in Las Vegas early last year, following a Wednesday meeting between the running back and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

“I would expect a suspension for Alvin Kamara, but what’s going to determine whether it’s two, four or six games?” Rapoport asked in an NFL Network segment.

“Potentially, what was behind it? Why did Alvin Kamara do what he appears to have done — the altercation that he was in in that video. Is there something that he can talk about with Goodell to make him at least have some understanding and realize what led to that altercation.

“The background there will be key.”

Rapoport added that the Saints have been preparing for a suspension with their free agency acquisition of running back Jamaal Williams — the former Lion and Packer — and drafting running back Kendre Miller in the third round.

Kamara pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of breach of peace last month, stemming from an incident at the Cromwell Hotel and Casino in February of 2022 in Las Vegas in which Kamara and three associates allegedly beat down and stomped a man in an altercation outside of an elevator.

Kamara, who had been facing felony battery charges, was ordered to pay the victim $105,000 for medical expenses and serve 30 hours of community service in the plea deal.

The incident occurred while Kamara was in Las Vegas for the Pro Bowl, and he was detained after the game.

Kamara, 27, rushed for 897 yards and two touchdowns last season, also accumulating 57 receptions for 490 yards and two touchdowns.
