Megan Rapinoe said goodbye to the USWNT on Sunday and carried her brash style until the end – much to the chagrin of some.

Rapinoe captained the Americans in a 2-0 friendly win vs. South Africa in Chicago to culminate a hugely decorated international career.

And the 38-year-old was seen heading to the match with bright reflective sunglasses and a speaker playing her pregame music of choice.

While Rapinoe was cheered on by the home crowd in Chicago, Jason Whitlock found the pregame display to be overly indulgent.

‘We’ve normalized self-idolatry,’ he said. ‘This is swag! She’s carrying her own entrance music. It’s clownish behavior.’

Whitlock previously criticized Rapinoe and the USWNT during this past summer’s World Cup, as he called her ‘the Andrew Tate of LGBTQ feminism’.

‘In the history of sports, no team has needed a comeuppance more than our women’s soccer team,’ he wrote in a tweet. ‘Rooting against this American Nightmare is not unpatriotic. Rooting for them is.’

He added on Rapinoe, she believes she is a threat to the establishment. She is popular, she is wealthy beyond her imagination, sexually liberated and adored by her followers.

‘She is a fraud. She hates America because she hates herself. She is toxic. Her attitude pervades the national team. At 38, she is only on the roster to further burnish her brand.

In the clip of Rapinoe from Sunday, she could be heard playing the song ‘Hussle and Motivate’ by the late Nipsey Hussle, a song that she previously quoted after winning the 2019 World Cup.

She played the same part during the video that was captured on Sunday, which goes, ‘Ain’t really trip on the credit, I just paid all of my dues. I just respected the game, now my name all in the news.’

Rapinoe – along with her other teammates – has attracted criticism for not singing the national anthem.
