Feyenoord have reportedly placed a €50 million asking price on Santiago Gimenez amid transfer interest from Real Madrid.

The Mexican forward has scored 10 goals and provided two assists in just seven Eredivisie games this season and his form has caught the attention of Los Blancos scouts.

According to Fichajes, Feyenoord now want €50m for the 22-year-old if they are to sanction a sale.

The Spanish giants have Joselu as the only recognised senior striker in their squad, following Karim Benzema’s summer move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad, and he is only at the club on loan.

Carlo Ancelotti has combated this lack of forward options by moving to a 4-4-2 diamond formation this campaign, with summer signing Jude Bellingham playing as a No.10. The Englishman has been Real Madrid’s primary goal-getter so far this season; he has notched seven goals and two assists in just eight games in all competitions.

However, Real Madrid are now planning to sign a new forward despite the imminent arrival of Endrick, who will join when he turns 18 next year.

Gimenez is reportedly on their list, but he won’t come cheap. The Mexican has an Expected Transfer Value (xTV) of €16.5m, but Feyenoord are demanding more than three times that amount for their star man.

Gimenez interest

Real Madrid aren’t the only club interested in signing Gimenez either. Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund are all keeping tabs on his form in the Netherlands, as per multiple reports.

Dutch journalist Martijn Krabbendam recently said: “There was already a lot of interest in him [Gimenez] last summer and they signed Ayase Ueda for €9 million. That will simply be the striker next year. They will try to ensure that Giménez becomes the record transfer.”

Gimenez joined Feyenoord from Cruz Azul for €6m last summer.
