The Columbus Academy and Upper Arlington girls tennis teams finished second in their respective divisions at the Ohio Tennis Coaches Association state tournament Saturday in Wooster.

Academy lost to Cincinnati Indian Hill 3-0 in the Division II final at Aspen Racquet Club. Earlier in the day, UA fell 3-0 in the Division I final to Mason, which won its seventh consecutive title while denying the Golden Bears their first since 2013.

Division II

The Vikings (19-2), who were seeking their first team championship since 2008, swept Toledo Ottawa Hills 3-0 in a semifinal but ran into a buzz saw against Indian Hill, which did not drop a set in any match that counted toward the final score.

OTCA contests end as soon as one team wins three matches.

At second singles, Academy’s Gabby Stewart lost to Martha Thompson 6-0, 6-1. Malia Chow fell to Caroline Brown 6-0, 6-1 at third singles and at second doubles, Grace Philip and Sophie Wu lost to Lexi Larsen and McKenzie Stoddard 6-3, 6-1.

In the semifinal, Academy’s Tamanna Arya shut out the Green Bears’ Ella Shetterly 6-0, 6-0 at second singles, Yasemin Bilgin defeated Aggie Yoon 6-0, 6-1 at third singles and Arya Chabria and Gabby Stewart beat Caroline Durfee and Bryn Tangeman 6-2, 6-2 at first doubles.

Bilgin and Chabria won the doubles title in the OHSAA individual tournament Friday at Aspen.

As in the individual tournament, OTCA play started at the College of Wooster but was moved indoors because of rain.

Alexa Roth and Upper Arlington finished second in the Division I OTCA state tournament Saturday in Wooster.

Division I

Like Academy, UA (16-3) swept its semifinal against Whitehouse Anthony Wayne before being swept in the final.

Against Mason, Isabella Roth lost 6-2, 6-0 to Addison Cassidy at first singles, Lili Bibbo lost 6-0, 6-1 at third singles to Ayumi Kashikwakura and at first doubles, Caroline Kegg and Ava Kramer fell 6-0, 6-2 to Pratyusha Chaudhuri and Chloe Zhang.

In the semifinal, Alexa Roth shut out Kaiying Buskirk 6-0, 6-0 at second singles, Bibbo beat Savanna Saneholtz 6-0, 6-1 at third singles and the first-doubles team of Danielle Ball and Alice Hawley swept Cara Langenderfer and Emily Szul 6-2, 6-2.
