The Tiger Woods comeback tour is growing.

The Jupiter Island resident will compete with son, Charlie, at the PNC Championship next month in Orlando. The father-son team will play in the event for the fourth consecutive year.

The PNC will be held at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club Orlando, Grande Lakes, Dec. 14-17. The announcement came Wednesday on NBC’s “TODAY” show.

Tiger announced last week he is returning to competitive golf for the first time in nearly eight months at the Hero World Challenge at Albany in the Bahamas. That four-day tournament starts Nov. 30.

The Hero requires walking 72 holes. The 36-hole PNC allows the use of a cart.

Team Woods first competed at the PNC in 2020.

“The bonding, just to be able to be out there and share this with Charlie it just means so much to all of us,” the 15-time major winner said last year.

Woods, 47, has not played since withdrawing from the third round of the Masters in April because of plantar fasciitis. He was 9-over and in last place when play was suspended Saturday. It was the second time in three majors he withdrew before reaching Sunday.

Woods underwent surgery on his right ankle two weeks after the Masters for lingering pain caused by injuries from his car accident in February 2021 and has not played since

Recently Tiger caddied for Charlie at the Notah Begay III Junior Golf Championship in Louisiana, carrying his bag for 54 holes. Charlie is a member of Benjamin School’s golf team that recently won the state championship at Mission Inn Resort and Club in Howie-In-The-Hills. Prohibited by FHSAA tournament rules from carrying his son’s bag, Tiger attended the event as a proud father.

Tiger did not compete at last year’s Hero World Challenge, withdrawing shortly before the event due to plantar fasciitis. He played at the PNC but said that week: “I can practice; I just can’t walk.”

This season he made two PGA Tour starts, finishing T45 at The Genesis Invitational and making the cut at the Masters. He has ramped up his practice in recent weeks according to Stewart Cink, who recently saw Tiger at the World Wide Technology Championship.

“He said that he’s started practicing, which I think is a great sign,” Cink told the Golf Channel. “I don’t know what he’s practicing for, but he said he started practicing, so that means he’s in ‘go mode’ for something.”
