In the 65th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Rajasthan Royals (RR) faced a 5-wicket defeat against Punjab Kings (PBKS). Opting to bat first, RR struggled against PBKS bowling attack and posted a below-par total of total 144 for 9 in 20 overs, despite a commendable effort from local talent Riyan Parag (48 off 34). In reply, PBKS successfully chased down the target in 18.5 overs, overcoming early setbacks. Sam Curran led his team to victory with his impressive knock of 63 runs in 41 balls.
While the home team couldn’t deliver a victory for their fans, a moment of joy emerged during the game when Yuzvendra Chahal executed an exceptional catch to dismiss the PBKS batter.

During the first over of the chase, Prabhsimran Singh attempted to dispatch Trent Boult‘s short delivery towards the on-side. However, the ball’s top edge soared directly upwards and headed towards the short third-man. Chahal swiftly backpedalled and skillfully secured a reverse cup catch. The leg-spinner momentarily wavered on his back before clutching the ball, leaving the spectators in awe.

Concerning performance of Yashasvi Jaiswal
Yashasvi Jaiswal, the opening batter for RR, has been struggling with his form in recent matches. In the game against PBKS, Jaiswal was dismissed after scoring just 4 runs off 4 balls. It’s worth noting that in the previous match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), he played a slow innings, scoring 24 runs off 21 balls. The decline in form of the 22-year-old is worrisome not only for Rajasthan but also for Team India, given Jaiswal’s inclusion in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2024.
