Indian Premier League (IPL) is more than just cricket—it’s a carnival of emotions, rivalries, and banter. The latest chapter in this saga unfolded after Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured a historic 50-run victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
This win, RCB’s first in Chennai in 17 years, sparked a wave of trolling aimed at former CSK star Ambati Rayudu, who has often taken playful jabs at RCB for their lack of IPL titles. However, Rayudu’s witty remrk added a humorous twist to the ongoing banter.
RCB ends 17-year drought at Chepauk
RCB’s emphatic win against CSK was a statement of intent. Led by Rajat Patidar, the Bengaluru side posted a formidable total of 196 runs and restricted CSK to just 146. This victory not only boosted RCB’s morale but also marked a significant milestone for the franchise, as they had not won at Chepauk since 2008. The win was especially sweet given the intense rivalry between the two teams.
However, the triumph wasn’t just celebrated on the field—it spilled over to social media, where RCB fans turned their attention to Rayudu. Known for his vocal support of CSK and frequent digs at RCB’s trophy-less history, Rayudu became the subject of light-hearted trolling.
RCB fans take aim at Ambati Rayudu
An Instagram fan account dedicated to RCB humorously called out Rayudu after the match. The post read: “We are getting worried. A certain member on the panel has been found missing online since the last two hours. If anyone has any knowledge about it, please reach out. We hope Ambati Rayudu is doing okay.”
This cheeky comment referenced Rayudu’s silence following CSK’s defeat and quickly gained traction among fans.
Rayudu hits back at RCB fans’ troll
Rather than shying away from the banter, Rayudu responded with grace and humour. Sharing the post on his own Instagram account, he wrote: “Hahahaha good one… @rcbfans.official. This is exactly how banter is supposed to be. You guys have a great team this year and you can hope for the best.”
His reply not only defused any tension but also earned praise for its sportsmanship. By acknowledging RCB’s strong performance this season, Rayudu demonstrated how friendly rivalries can elevate the spirit of competition.

Rayudu’s criticism for CSK’s batting order
Off the field, Rayudu also voiced his concerns about CSK’s current form and strategy. Speaking on JioHotstar after the match, he criticized the team’s batting order and their struggles against quality spin bowling. He emphasized that key players like Ruturaj Gaikwad should open the innings, while Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni need to bat higher up.
“I am not so convinced about the middle order that CSK possesses right now. To play good quality bowling, you need your best batsmen to bat at those numbers. Ruturaj has to open, and you also need to get Ravindra Jadeja slightly up. And also, you cannot have MS Dhoni so low in the order,” Rayudu stated.
Rayudu’s remarks highlight growing concerns about CSK’s ability to maintain their dominance in IPL 2025.
A history of salty jibes: Rayudu vs RCB
This isn’t the first time Rayudu has engaged in banter with RCB fans. Over the years, he has frequently poked fun at their inability to win an IPL title despite having star players like Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. From social media posts to on-air comments, Rayudu has often reminded RCB fans of their barren trophy cabinet.
For instance, after RCB’s elimination from IPL 2024, Rayudu remarked that “individual milestones” seemed more important than team success for RCB – a comment that sparked heated debates online.
With two consecutive wins in IPL 2025, including their historic victory over CSK at Chepauk, RCB are daring to dream of an elusive title this year. The team looks well-balanced under Patidar’s leadership and boasts a strong line-up capable of challenging any opposition.
