Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) scripted history as they registered their first-ever win at Chepauk in 17 years, defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 50 runs in a dominant display. CSK never recovered from their disastrous start. Josh Hazlewood (3/21) struck early, dismissing Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rahul Tripathi inside the powerplay. Bhuvneshwar Kumar (1/20) made an instant impact on RCB debut, while Yash Dayal (2/18) and Liam Livingstone (2/28) ensured the pressure never eased. CSK’s strategy raised eyebrows as Sam Curran (8 off 13) was sent ahead of spin-hitter Shivam Dube, wasting valuable balls and adding to CSK’s misery. The early wickets left them chasing an improbable equation as RCB’s bowlers capitalized on the slow surface, never allowing CSK to build momentum.
