Reports suggest that Mohammed Shami will be absent for the first two matches of India’s Test tour to England.

In a significant setback for the Indian Cricket team, it is reported that fast bowler Mohammed Shami could miss the first two matches of England’s upcoming red-ball tour of India, scheduled to commence on January 25. His absence could pose a substantial challenge for the Indian team as they gear up to face England in the crucial contest. The experienced pacer’s bowling prowess and knack for breakthroughs will likely be absent in the starting encounters, intensifying the strategic considerations for the Asian Giants against the formidable English side.

The reason behind Mohammed Shami’s absence

According to various reports, Shami is presently grappling with an ankle injury, rendering him unable to resume bowling since the conclusion of the ODI World Cup in 2023. Despite being named in the Test squad against South Africa, the 33-year-old’s inclusion hinged upon his recovery following treatment.

In a subsequent press release, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) then clarified that Shami’s participation in the Test series remained contingent on his fitness and underscored that he had not received clearance from the Medical Team at that juncture.
