Bayern Munich’s package to sign Florian Wirtz would cost a whopping €250 million, according to German media.

The Bayer Leverkusen star is Germany’s most sought-after commodity heading into the summer transfer window. The saga surrounding Wirtz has been going on for most of the season, and there is still no final decision on his future.

Leverkusen have presented a lucrative contract offer and the general terms of the agreement have already been in place since around December. However, Wirtz still has not given the decisive green light to proceed with the signing of the deal.

This has given his suitors hope. If Wirtz indeed ends up rejecting Leverkusen’s proposal, there is an expectation that the reigning Bundesliga champions will listen to offers for him this summer.

Real Madrid, Man City and chief among them Bayern Munich are all vying for his signature. The latter are his most realistic destination. Real Madrid don’t need another attacker right now and FootballTransfers understands that Man City consider him too expensive this summer.

Bayern prepare huge Wirtz package

As for Bayern, they are prepared to go the extra mile to sign Wirtz, who is believed to be open to a move to Munich. Honorary president Uli Hoeness has spoken at length about the attacking midfielder and previously insisted that Bayern would even be willing to go into debt to sign him.

Hoeness has been in frequent contact with Wirtz’s father and agent Hans-Joachim since all the way back in 2020, and German media is adamant that there was recently another transfer meeting, although the Bayern chief insists that Wirtz senior simply sought marketing advice.

Bayern are ready to go all-in on Wirtz and BILD now reports that the package required to sign him this summer could amount to a whopping €250 million.

Leverkusen are reluctant to sell to their direct rivals and will demand a fee in the region of €150m, while Wirtz’s annual salary at Bayern would be in a similar €25m ballpark to the one his good friend Jamal Musiala received as part of his recent new contract.

Despite looking to cut costs in recent times, Bayern are convinced that they can afford Wirtz, and they hope that signing him would give them enough of a commercial and marketing boost so as to recoup a chunk of this Bundesliga-record outlay.
