Alvaro Morata has completed his surprise loan move to Turkish side Galatasaray for £5million after just six disappointing months at AC Milan.
The Spanish national team captain joined the reigning Super Lig champions until January 2026, but according to the Italian side, his contract includes a permanent buy-clause.
The transfer comes only days after Morata and his Italian influencer wife, Alice Campello, announced they are back together following their split five months ago.
Previously, Spanish media confirmed that the main reason for their split was an argument after the winning Euro final last year, when Alice reportedly wanted only herself, the pair’s children and her friends to celebrate the win on the pitch.
The former Chelsea striker emerged later with a surprising press conference where he opened up about the depression caused by heavy criticism he had received throughout the last years, both at club and national levels.
He said: ‘When you have really tough times, depression, panic attacks, it doesn’t matter what job you do, what situation you have in life, you have another person inside that you have to fight against every day and every night.

Despite high expectations from Rossoneri fans, Morata had six disappointing months in Milan
‘For me, leaving Spain was the best option; I couldn’t stand it’.
Despite a stunning season at Atletico Madrid, during which he scored 21 goals, the Spaniard secured a move to AC Milan, where he could not deliver a strong performance.
The 32-year-old player built an impressive portfolio of clubs, also featuring for Real Madrid and Juventus.
During the 2023-24 campaign, Morata scored six goals while delivering one assist in 26 games.
Since their split, there were constant rumours that the pair had made another attempt to be together.
In her first interview after splitting, Alice, who has four children with Alvaro, said: ‘He has loved me very much and very well. He pushed me a lot in all my projects and made me see a good part of myself that perhaps I did not see. For me that is love.
But the businesswoman then admitted that perhaps she was not prepared on a ‘mental level’ for family life.
She said: ‘The best thing in my life has been having them so close together and when I see them playing together I find it impressive.
‘But I wasn’t realising how much it has affected me on a mental level. My pregnancies and my postpartums have affected me a lot. Especially the last one, when I almost died.’
