A group of Arsenal fans have hilariously set up a GoFundMe page to raise £25million so they can pay West Ham more for summer signing Declan Rice.

Rice, who joined the Gunners for £105m last summer, stunned Kenilworth Road on Tuesday night after scoring a crucial stoppage time winner to hand Arsenal a 4-3 victory over Luton.

His last-gasp header helped Arsenal extend their lead at the top of the Premier League to five points, ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Sheffield United on Wednesday.

The England midfielder has been a pivotal player for Arsenal this campaign, anchoring Mikel Arteta’s midfield brilliantly during the Gunners’ first 15 league games – and he is already a favourite with the fans.

A group of supporters have now set up a GoFundMe page in jest, suggesting that West Ham were ripped off by the deal despite it being the third most expensive Premier League signing of all time.

‘In light of the unfortunate robbery of West Ham United. We are asking Arsenal fans to come together to raise funds for West Ham United to compensate the underpayment of Declan Rice,’ the page, which was created directly after Tuesday’s clash at Kenilworth Road, says.

‘It has become evident in the last 15 weeks that Edu and Arsenal were the beneficiaries of a £25,000,000 underpayment to West Ham United.’

The page, set up by Zac Wilson in England, has not yet received a donation.

Piers Morgan, an avid Arsenal supporter, took to social media on Tuesday to claim that Rice is one of the best signings in the club’s history.

The journalist posted his message on X, formerly Twitter, in response to an interview with the midfielder after the game. Rice explained how he ‘gambled’ with a late run into the box, knowing that it was the last kick of the game.

He also urged how ‘staying focused and levelheaded’ has been important for him during the first few months of his Arsenal career.

Morgan said: ‘This interview, and his goal last night, and his Herculean performances all season, are why Declan Rice is already one of the best signings in Arsenal history.’

He finished off his tweet by claiming that Rice, as a signing, is as good as three of Arsenal’s ‘Invincibles’ who won the Premier League without defeat in 2004.

‘Right up there with (Dennis) Bergkamp, (Thierry) Henry and (Patrick) Vieira,’ he added.

Arsenal travel to Villa Park on Saturday to face in-form Aston Villa, who sit fourth in the Premier League ahead of Wednesday’s clash with champions Manchester City.
