Chelsea are reportedly open to letting Trevoh Chalobah leave the club this month as he nears a return to full fitness – but he will likely only depart on loan.

The 24-year-old has not featured at all this season, though he is nearing a return to full fitness after a hamstring problem kept him out since August.

And now has has almost recovered from his injury woes, there is a chance for Chelsea to offload him, according to the Sun, as the Blues look to balance the books in order to comply with Financial Fair Play.

The Blues are said to be planning some outgoings this month to avoid having a bloated squad – with Ian Maatsen and Malang Sarr also among the player who could leave in January.

Given his lack of action this season – and plenty of Chelsea players ahead of him in the pecking order – Chalobah has been heavily linked with an exit and Jose Mourinho’s Roma have been rumoured to be interested.

The report from the Sun claims that Chalobah, however, is more likely to leave the club on loan – with a view to a permanent move – after also being linked with Tottenham and Bayern Munich.

This week Gazetta dello Sport reported that Serie A outfit Roma have made initial enquiries for Chalobah and would be willing to take him on loan for the season.

Meanwhile, the Independent have claimed that Bayern Munich are also attempting to snare Chalobah to the German city on loan after failing to sign him in the summer.

Clearing Chalobah off the wage bill would allow Chelsea more freedom to operate in the market this month as the Blues look to reinforce following a difficult season so far.
