Cristiano Ronaldo took to social media to make a post amid Manchester United’s late collapse at Chelsea on Thursday night.
Erik ten Hag’s men had stamped out the Blues’ two-goal lead in through goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes by the time the whistle blew for half-time, and a second goal from the former in the second-half all but sealed victory on the road after the weekend’s draw with Brentford.
But a late penalty conceded by Diogo Dalot handed momentum back to the hosts, and after Cole Palmer levelled from the spot in stoppage time, the boyhood United fan heaped yet more misery onto the Red Devils with a matchwinner struck just 82 seconds later.
Just moments after Palmer’s winner, Ronaldo posted a photo of himself and captioned it: ‘Happy days’, with a green heart emoji.
And some fans immediately took notice of the timing of the post, claiming it was not a coincidence.
