Cristiano Ronaldo’s 33rd goal of the season leads Al Nassr to victory over Al Akhdoud in the Saudi Pro League, assisting Marcelo Brozovic’s stoppage time winner.

Cristiano Ronaldo bagged his 33rd goal of the season as as Al Nassr beat Al Akhdoud 3-2 in the Saudi Pro League League on Thursday night.

Just days after the Portugal forward scored a hat-trick in a 6-0 thrashing of Al Wehda, the visitors took just seven minutes to take the lead.

Alex Telles’ deflected cross ended up at Marcelo Brozovic’s feet, who rifled a shot into the corner from the edge of the box.

Eight minutes later, top scorer Ronaldo doubled the lead from close range when Ali Al Hassan’s cross from the right went in off his leg.

The visitors went close to extending its lead early in the second half when Sadio Mane was denied by the crossbar.

Al Akhdoud pulled a goal back in the 60th minute with a superb shot from outside the box by Hassan Al Habib.

Ten minutes later, Akhdoud drew level after some sloppy defending from Aymeric Laporte, who gave away the ball to Saviour Godwin inside the box, and he made no mistake by slotting the ball into the net.

However, Al Nassr claimed victory when Ronaldo hit the crossbar with a header and Brozovic forced the ball home in stoppage time.

Having played a game more, Al Nassr is currently nine points behind leaders Al Hilal, who can secure the title on Saturday by beating Al Hazm.

Al Nassr will face Al Hilal on May 17 in the Saudi Pro League.
