Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo and defender Neco Williams have been charged with misconduct by the FA over comments made after the club’s recent defeat against Everton.
Forest have been hampered in their bid to avoid relegation this season by a host of questionable refereeing decisions and felt wronged against Everton after being denied multiple penalty claims.
The club were facing an investigation after questioning the integrity of video referee Stuart Attwell after the match, with Santo and Williams amongst those fuming about decisions that had gone against them at Goodison Park.
The FA placed Forest under investigation for their post-match comments and have now charged the duo, while also formally warning former referee Mark Clattenberg in relation to comments he made in his role as advisor to the club.
‘Nottingham Forest, Nuno Espirito Santo and Neco Williams have been charged with misconduct in relation to comments that they made after their Premier League game against Everton on Sunday 21 April,’ the FA began their statement.

‘It’s alleged that the club, manager and player’s comments constitute improper conduct in that they imply bias and/or question the integrity of the match officials and/or bring the game into disrepute.
‘Nottingham Forest, Santo and Williams have until Thursday 9 May to provide their respective responses.
‘Mark Clattenburg has been formally warned as to his future conduct in relation to comments that he made after this game,’ the statement concluded.
