Pep Guardiola is baffled by the coronation of Manchester City as champions before they head to Tottenham, desperately needing to break a Premier League hoodoo.
City will become the first team to win four straight top-flight titles if they beat both Spurs and West Ham United over the next six days.
But Guardiola has lost all four league matches at Spurs’ new stadium and disputed that winning the title is a foregone conclusion, while also taking a jab at the spending of City’s competitors — including ailing rivals Manchester United.
‘It (the Premier League) is boring? It is not boring,’ Guardiola said.
‘It’s so difficult to be here again and we want to win it. It surprises me a lot when people say, “City are not going to lose, it’s impossible that they drop points” — of course we can.

Guardiola admitted to nerves before going to Spurs but was left bewildered when Sir Alex Ferguson’s phrase, ‘squeaky bum time’, was put to him.
‘Can we translate?’ he asked. ‘A lot of pressure? Why did Sir Alex not make an easier sentence? We will feel the tension and the nerves, of course, otherwise it would be a bad sign.’
Meanwhile, City are hoping to sign Vivianne Miedema on a free transfer after Arsenal confirmed she would leave the club at the end of the season.
The Gunners have declined to extend the forward’s contract and Gareth Taylor’s side hope to pull off what would be a huge coup.
