Hull City’s chairman has revealed why Liam Rosenior was sacked just three months after signing a new contract.
Acun Ilicali took the decision to let the Tigers boss go on Tuesday following the conclusion of the Championship season over the weekend.
Hull, who lost 1-0 away to relegation-threatened Plymouth on the final day, finished seventh overall in the Championship table, falling short of the play-off finish the club and owner had hoped for.
Ilicali therefore took the decision to relieve Rosenior of his duties, much to the surprise of a number of Hull fans who thought he had earned the trust following an impressive year-and-a-half at the club.
The Turkish entrepreneur has now revealed the reason behind his decision, and pointed to the future rather than the past.

‘At the end of the day, me and my team are dreaming of something for this club and there is a football style that we want to see on the pitch.
‘Liam’s football philosophy is very good and may be successful but we didn’t see it suiting our character for the future.’
Hull fans were left somewhat puzzled by the call to sack Rosenior, who had put pen-to-paper on a three year deal just a matter of months ago.
He was shortlisted for the Manager of the Season in the Championship at the end of season EFL awards and had the club in the play-offs at the time of signing his new deal in December.
He steered the club away from relegation last season and up the league this term, but didn’t quite reach the heights that were seemingly expected of him from above.

Hull had a disappointing end to the season with just two wins in six games as they were held to draws by Middlesbrough, Watford and Ipswich Town, before their loss to Plymouth.
Names in the frame to be the club’s next manager include former Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper and ex-Rennes man Will Still.
