Sir Dave Brailsford has reportedly conducted one-to-one meetings with Manchester United players and staff in recent days.

The former performance director for British Cycling has taken on a senior role at the club since Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s purchase of a 27.7 per cent share was announced by the club on Christmas Eve.

Though the Ineos group did not complete a full takeover of the club from the Glazer family, Ratcliffe has taken control of football operations at the club and has wasted little time in implementing reforms.

Former Manchester City exec Omar Berrada has been named the club’s chief executive while United remain in a prolonged standoff with Newcastle regarding the future of sporting director Dan Ashworth.

According to a report from The Telegraph, the talks between Brailsford and Erik ten Hag’s squad proved productive, as the 60-year-old divulged the plans to take the club forward.

One topic that reportedly was not on the agenda in the discussions was Ten Hag’s future as manager.

After an impressive maiden season in English football, the former Ajax boss has presided over a decidedly less successful campaign this term.

Champions League qualification remains an outside possibility, but a disastrous European exit combined with faltering form in the league has led to questions over the Dutchman’s job security.

Reports last month suggested that Ratcliffe already has his eye on a replacement should Ten Hag get the sack, with England boss Gareth Southgate said to be the billionaire’s number one target.

Instead, discussions between Brailsford and the players are reported to have been centered around the Ineos Group’s long-term goals both on, and off the pitch for the club.
