For all Newcastle fans, this is one of the most iconic shirts in the club’s history.
It was what we wore when we came within a whisker of winning the Premier League in 1996, its association with Kevin Keegan’s Entertainers is recognised the world over.
I remember being there for the kit launch with a teenage Ant and Dec at St James’ Park, and don’t forget we also had the maroon and navy away shirt that season, too.
I don’t think you’ll get two better kits in one season. We beat Coventry 3-0 on the opening day of the season and Les Ferdinand and David Ginola made debuts — that black and white shirt was everywhere in town.
I have some of my best memories wearing it.
