NYCFC would equalize in the 34th with Alonso Martinez’s right-footed strike slotting past Drake Callender. The goal marked Martinez’s first in MLS in his first start for NYCFC.
New York City FC entered the game with a 1-0-4 record, coming off a narrow 1-0 loss to FC Cincinnati. The Pigeons’ lone win this season came in a 2-1 showing against Toronto FC.
