Richarlison from Tottenham stays in England despite Saudi Arabia interest, focused on recovery from calf injury

Tottenham forward Richarlison has insisted that he ‘will not leave’ the club during the transfer window despite interest from abroad.

The Brazilian endured a mixed season in north London after scoring 11 league goals before having his campaign derailed by a knee issue and, later, a calf injury.

There have been questions as to whether Richarlison has become surplus to requirements at Spurs, with Son Heung-min often playing as their striker.

Tottenham have also been linked with a potential move for another forward in the summer, leading to further uncertainty over Richarlison’s place in the squad.

However, despite the ongoing rumours, the Brazilian has come forward and claimed that he has no intention of leaving the club during the summer.

Writing on his Instagram story, he said: ‘I left my vacation and came to work to come back better ahead of next season.

‘Regarding what’s been said in the media in the last few days, it’s fake news. I will NOT leave England ahead of next season.’

He followed it up by sharing pictures of his rehabilitation process, as he works to recover from a calf injury that ruled him out of Brazil’s Copa America squad.

Earlier this month, Mail Sport revealed that Saudi league leaders Al-Hilal were keen to land the Tottenham forward this summer.

Mail Sport understands they made enquiries to Spurs over the Brazilian in January in the wake of Neymar’s season-ending knee injury.

The club, one of the four backed by the Saudi Public Investment Fund and fast closing in on the Pro League title, were privately confident they will secure a deal the 27-year-old.

However, given the Brazilian’s recent comments, it seems as though a move to the Saudi league may have to be put on hold.

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou is looking to continue his rebuild of the squad this summer with a heavy turnover expected in the transfer window, as he bids to improve on this season’s fifth-place Premier League finish.

The likes of Japhet Tanganga and Sergio Reguilon are set to depart the club, while Postecoglou’s side could also face bids for the likes of Richarlison and Yves Bissouma.

Though there will be plenty of outgoings, there will likely be a number of arrivals too, and Nottingham Forest’s Callum Hudson-Odoi, 23, could be one of the first names to walk through the door in north London.

According to The Guardian, Tottenham have the forward on a wish list of targets having reportedly rejected the chance to sign him last summer.

Hudson-Odoi left Chelsea last summer after 16 years with the Blues, having made 126 appearances for the club during what was a hit-and-miss stay.
