Nottingham Forest have confirmed the £5.5million signing of Strasbourg keeper Matz Sels

It was just days after club captain Matz Sels departed the French outfit to join Nottingham Forest for a fee of £5.5m.

Boehly, who has spent nearly £1billion at Chelsea, did not see the success of his signings materialise after the Blues finished just 12th last season, despite 17 players arriving through the door at Stamford Bridge.

Strasbourg fans could previously be seen with makeshift banners saying: ‘Boehly not welcome’ in huge red letters, as well as protests on Sunday.

Supporters of the Ligue 1 club produced a banner during Strasbourg’s 2-0 home win against Touloues at The Stade de la Meinau – reading ‘no to the timeshare’.

BlueCo, the consortium led by American Boehly, bought a majority stake in the club for a reported £65m.

Boehly has previously said a multi-club model is a strong pathway for young players to gain experience away from the big clubs, but it seems Strasbourg fans do not want to be a part of it.

Sections of Strasbourg fans have already demonstrated their displeasure at Boehly’s take-over in June.
