Victor Osimhen has squashed rumours that he may leave Galatasaray in the January transfer window.

Even though he is on a season-long loan from Napoli, reports had suggested that interested clubs were prepared to active a clause in his contract with the Turkish club and meet the asking price of the Serie A outfit.

The striker has a stipulation in his deal that will allow him to leave Rams Park in January.

“They are talking about January. I am here until the end of the season,” he told Nexus Sports. “I don’t know what Galatasaray and Napoli are discussing after that… This is a club I really like.”

He has also described Galatasaray as being like a family. “I’m here as a Galatasaray player, I’m happy here. Since I came, the Galatasaray fans, the club, I saw how big a family this club is. The way they have treated me and my family in a wonderful manner.

“It’s important to be able to give them my all on the pitch. I’ve seen a lot of the speculation linking me out of the club in January, I can state through me now I’m going to be here until the end of the season,” he said.

Furthermore, Mauro Icardi tore his anterior cruciate ligament and sustained meniscus damage in his right knee, which means Galatasaray would be even more reluctant to let him leave.

Osimhen has played five games in the Super Lig so far, netting four goals and providing two assists in that period.

Chelsea and Arsenal have been linked to the forward since the summer. The Blues did not agree a deal with the Nigeria international in the end, while the Gunners opted not to sign another No.9.

Chelsea vindicated

Chelsea, for their money, have been vindicated in their decision. Nicolas Jackson has made a good start to the season with six goals and three assists in nine Premier League matches.

Osimhen has also been linked to clubs in the Saudi Pro League, but the general feeling is that he would rather stay in Europe.

He has no future at Napoli, despite inspiring them to a historic Scudetto in 2023. He has fallen out with the hierarchy and the Italian club replaced him with Romelu Lukaku, who arrived from Chelsea during the summer transfer window.
