Arsenal are ready to super-charge their summer transfer window but offloading a string of fringe players in order to boost the kitty open to manager Mikel Arteta in the close season, according to a report.

Arteta, though, wants to build an even stronger team for the 2024/25 campaign and will seek to fuel what FootballTransfers exclusively revealed to be a huge summer budget with further sales to inflate it further. But is this really viable?

According to a report from The Mirror, as many as seven players could be sold by the Gunners. It has been estimated that this could raise around €267 million (£230m), with a further three set to depart at the end of their contracts.

Eddie Nketiah, Emile Smith Rowe, Aaron Ramsdale, Kieran Tierney, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Nuno Tavares and Reiss Nelson all find themselves on the transfer list ahead of the summer, while Mohamed Elneny, Cedric Soares and Arthur Okonkwo will leave as free agents.

The reality behind Arsenal’s summer sales

Arsenal’s hopes of raising such a sum from these players is, however, ambitious.

It is hoped that the Gunners will be able to offload bit-part attackers Nketiah and Smith-Rowe for around €45m each, with backup goalkeeper Ramsdale targeted for a deal worth over €55m.

Name Arsenal’s estimate (€m) Estimated Transfer Value (€m)
Eddie Nketiah 46.5 15.5
Aaron Ramsdale 58.1 27.3
Emile Smith Rowe 52.3 13.4
Kieran Tierney 40.7 21.1
Albert Sambi Lokonga 23.3 5.5
Nuno Tavares 11.6 8.6
Reiss Nelson 34.9 8.4
TOTAL 267.4 99.8

In reality, Arteta’s side will do well to reach such a fee for any of the players they have up for sale, with the Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of these players far below these optimistic prices.

Clubs know that Arsenal need to wash their hands of these players, none of whom have played a significant part in their title push, and with that in mind, the fees they can fetch are likely to be significantly smaller.
