Liverpool legend Didi Hamann has yet again hit out at Harry Kane and argued that Bayern Munich would be better off without him.

The England captain and long-time Man Utd target has proved exceptionally prolific for the Bavarians since being signed from Tottenham for €100 million last summer in a deal that absolutely annihilated the Bundesliga’s transfer record.

Though Kane has not – and likely won’t – managed to break Robert Lewandowski’s record of 41 goals in a Bundesliga season, he has come pretty close, netting 36 in 32 games in the league and 44 in all competitions while also contributing 12 assists.

Despite this stunning return, the 30-year-old has gone yet another season without a trophy. Bayern have been comfortably pipped to the Bundesliga title by Bayer Leverkusen, crashed out against third-tier Saarbrücken in the DFB-Pokal and missed out on the Champions League final after a late Real Madrid comeback.

Kane has attracted criticism for his performance in that fixture against Madrid. Having mostly been a passenger, the striker was surprisingly subbed off after 80 minutes. Liverpool legend Didi Hamann said afterwards that the €100m man should have ‘grit his teeth,’ and now he has once again slammed the Englishman.

Bayern should think about selling Kane

Speaking on Sky 90, Hamann pondered whether or not Bayern would be better off without Kane. “Behind the scenes [at Bayern], I would certainly ask the question: Would they be better off with €100m in the bank and him back in the UK?”

“Bayern scored more goals without Kane last season than this term. He didn’t come cheap either. He has a large salary and cost €100m. Would they really be worse off with [Mathys] Tel up top? How many titles have they won?”

“They did well against Arsenal [in the Champions League quarters] – he was barely visible. He was also barely visible against Madrid; he had a chance to make it 2-0, a difficult one, he hit the side netting with his left foot. And then he leaves after 80 minutes because of back problems. I’m going to be honest, I have no sympathy for this.”
