Chelsea have cooled their interest in Evan Ferguson, according to a report.
The young Brighton striker is currently in the midst of a form slump, having not found the back of the net for the Seagulls since November 2023. The Irishman has come down to earth after a spectacular breakout season, though he is still only a teenager.
Ferguson currently sits on six goals for the season, a far cry from the 16 he netted in 2022/23. Nevertheless, the 19-year-old remains a sought-after commodity. Arsenal view him as a potential target for the summer, while Chelsea and Man Utd already attempted an audacious loan swoop in January.

Indeed, the latter are still very keen on him, though there is some apprehension about whether a move this summer would be feasible given his sizeable price tag. As for Chelsea, however, it seems that they want to see an improvement from the youngster before they will reignite their interest.
Chelsea not in for Ferguson
At least that’s according to Simon Phillips, who claims that the Blues have cooled their interest in Ferguson amid his downturn in form. Chelsea know that their next big number nine signing needs to be a success and are therefore not willing to take the risk on yet another prospect.
Victor Osimhen, proven at the highest level, is viewed as the priority target for the summer, while Ferguson will likely not be the subject of concrete attraction from the Blues again anytime soon. However, given their policy of snapping up the biggest and brightest talents, the Irish teenager will likely remain on their radar.

Chelsea want to be smarter in the transfer market and spending north of €100 million on a 19-year-old who is no longer a starter for Brighton is simply not justifiable. The Blues are under pressure to get their ducks in a row.
