Fabrizio Romano: Rashford’s Man Utd EXIT close as major domino falls

A big step has been taken towards Marcus Rashford leaving Manchester United in the January transfer window, with AC Milan apparently closing in on the England international winger based on information from Fabrizio Romano.

Pushed to the side by new head coach Ruben Amorim, Rashford has admitted that he is open to a “new challenge” and Milan have emerged as a leading contender to sign the Man Utd star ahead of Borussia Dortmund.

The brothers and agents of the winger have been in Italy to talk terms with the San Siro club, whose inability to pay more than 50% of his total wage is still seen as a potential stumbling block to a deal being made.

Football transfer news reporter Romano has dropped an update, however, that suggests Milan are doing everything in their power to get a deal for Rashford over the line.

The Rossoneri are poised to offload left winger Noah Okafor to RB Leipzig, opening up a spot in their squad that Rashford would neatly fall into.

Romano tweeted: “RB Leipzig and AC Milan have agreed on loan deal for Noah Okafor plus buy option clause worth over €25m.

“Loan with salary covered by Leipzig, buy option clause not mandatory — around €25/28m based on several factors.

“Travel and medical scheduled for Friday.”

Okafor out, Rashford in at Milan?

Okafor was not Milan’s regular on the left by any means, yet by loaning him to RB Leipzig, it means there would be less competition for Rashford to face at San Siro if a move with Man Utd is agreed.

Indeed, this deal would be a logical step for Sergio Conceicao’s side to take in order to land a player who has emerged as a top January target.

Milan are far from the only side following Rashford, with Dortmund retaining an interest and Graham Potter’s West Ham United also taking note of his availability.
